Polemi Tulip Festival 2018
And Finally...

I took some shots a few days ago, before the rain, to post on Facebook. I am reproducing them here, so you can see what the tulips look like in their prime.

Should they have had the festival a week earlier? Hardly, that was Greek Independence Day.
Nature Follows It's Own Calendar

However, given that the tulip field is fenced off, there is nothing to stop people visiting when they want in future years.
If memory serves correctly. The tulips will now die down, but the gladioli will flourish for longer, so the field will turn purple.

So there you have it. Polemi Tulip Festival is over for another year. If you went, I hope you enjoyed it. And if you were unable to attend, I hope the pictures have given you a taste.
Still here? Good! I will plug a competition we are currently running. It is a virtual Easter Egg Hunt which is really fun, and you can win a €50 meal at Delhi Gate in Kato Paphos. They opened recently and are receiving rave reviews. And if you are a business, you can win three months free advertising, worth €150. If you have seen the banner ads at the top and bottom of this page, your company can be displayed there. Click here to play the game. You will be taken on a virtual tour of Foinikas. Have fun!

Cyprus Orchids
If you only visit in the heat of summer, you could be forgiven for thinking that a lot of Cyprus is like a desert; brown and arid. However, the truth is somewhat different. During Spring, most of Cyprus is green, as recent blogs will have shown. Not only that, but spring flowers come out to bloom, painting the hills and valleys with a sea of colour. If you are lucky, or you know where to look, you will also come across fields of orchids...

Polemi Concentration Camp
As you approach Polemi from the B7, you pass the Kamanterena Winery on your right. Just beyond that, if you are paying attention, you will see a lookout tower that wouldn't look out of place on a WW2 movie. A couple of ancient armoured vehicles might also perk your interest, so pull over, and take a look at Polemi Concentration Camp.

Polemi Sunset
Polemi isn't known for it's sunsets, well, to us at least. They are normally the domain of the coastal areas of Paphos, and Max's house. However, this evening, the Gods smiled on us, and granted us a lovely sunset. The photos can provide a brief, fitting epilogue to our last blog, Polemi Sunrise.Good Pages To Visit

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
