Come To Polemi Tulip Festival

Published 30th of March, 2018

The Polemi Tulip Festival is this weekend, 1st April at 11:30AM. Numerous people have been asking for more information about the event, so we have produced this little guide, showing you where it is, and where you should park etc.

The All Important Map

I thought it best to start the blog off with a map. You get to Polemi by taking the B7 from Paphos to Polis. When you get half way, just before Stroumpi, there is a petrol station and a right turning. This is clearly signposted for Polemi, along with about 20 other villages!

On previous years, the festival has been held in Metoxi Tavern, and people have parked in the Main Square. This year however, the tavern is being renovated, so it is being held in the Main Square. It is recommended therefore that you park near the school. If you try and park in a side road by the square, you will very likely get blocked in. So park further out and allow an extra 5 minutes walking time.

Weather Conditions

We've had very heavy storms over the last few days, which have blown away all the dust. This morning, the presence of the storms could still be seen in the distance.

Olive Tree Tavern

However, by the time I reached the Olive Tree, the sun was shining. This is one of the two restaurants in Polemi. If you want to eat here on Sunday you are advised to book. Their contact information can be found on their entry in the Paphos Life Restaurant Directory. I recommend the pork chops, if you have an appetite.

The School

Opposite the Olive Tree is the school. I checked at the Town Hall, and confirm that this is the recommended parking area.

Kokkinos Tavern

From the Olive Tree, heading into Polemi, you pass a wide road turning right. That leads to the Main Square. If however, you continue into Polemi, you come to the Kokkinos Tavern. Booking is advised there too. Details in the directory.

Incidently, if you are looking at the map, Google have the Kokkinos in slightly the wrong location. It is actually closer to the centre of Polemi than shown.

Polemi isn't known for it's sunsets, well, to us at least. They are normally the domain of the coastal areas of Paphos, and Max's house. However, this evening, the Gods smiled on us, and granted us a lovely sunset. The photos can provide a brief, fitting epilogue to our last blog, Polemi Sunrise.
