It's Snowing In Polemi!

I know Polemi has had snow many times before, but this is the first time we've had proper snow since we moved here in June. So naturally I had to take some pictures...

From our Kitchen

This was the view from our kitchen window half an hour ago. Our daughter is thrilled at the prospect of playing in the snow tomorrow, and it will save me another trip to the Troodos!

As I type this, the snow is dying down. Will it continue throughout the night? Our daughter certainly hopes so. All the weather sites think it should be raining at the moment though, so only time will tell. I will make sure I have my camera handy...

Polemi Sunset

Polemi isn't known for it's sunsets, well, to us at least. They are normally the domain of the coastal areas of Paphos, and Max's house. However, this evening, the Gods smiled on us, and granted us a lovely sunset. The photos can provide a brief, fitting epilogue to our last blog, Polemi Sunrise.

Polemi Tulip Festival 2018

This morning, Polemi was bathed in Spring sunshine, as it invited people to come and see the tulips that flourish there every year. It is an annual event, which gives a true taste of traditional Cypriot life. And as we live in Polemi ourselves, it would be rude not to cover it, wouldn't it?

Fire in Paphos district destroys six hectares of vegetation

Despite the heavy rain that hit parts of Cyprus over the weekend, on Sunday a fire broke out near the village of Akoursos, in the Paphos district.

According to the fire service, it took three fire engines to extinguish the blaze which ultimately burned six hectares of grass and wild vegetation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Paphos road fatality was not wearing seat belt

Paphos police on Monday appealed to the public to abide by road safety rules. The appeal came hours after a new road fatality.

Policed named the victim as Kiril  Kirov, 38,  a Bulgarian national permanent resident of Nicosia and father of two.

Fun paddle event to raise funds for cancer charities

A charity fundraiser will see novice crews paddle against each other next month to raise funds for cancer charities in Paphos.

There are still a couple of vacancies for crew members and training sessions are currently underway, said Maxine O’Daly of the ‘Breast of Friends’, a cancer support group and one of the charities due to benefit from funds raised.
