Cyprus Orchids
Orchis Italica

The final orchid we saw was growing in some abundance. We managed to capture it through several stages of development

Young Orchis Italica

As you will see, it changes a bit as it ages.
Coming Out Of It's Shell

Hmmm...

So, can you guess what it's common name is?
Naked Men

Yes, that's right. It is the Naked Man Orchid. Don't blame me, I didn't name it.
So there you have it. If you are feeling adventurous, don some decent walking boots and go out and explore the countryside. But don't hang about, the orchids won't last forever.
There is also a book available, listing Cyprus Orchids. You can find it in our new Amazon Affiliate Shop. Or you can just do what we did; photograph them then look up the info later. If you do that, you will be amazed at the amount of Cyprus Orchids you didn't see.

Polemi Tulip Festival 2018
This morning, Polemi was bathed in Spring sunshine, as it invited people to come and see the tulips that flourish there every year. It is an annual event, which gives a true taste of traditional Cypriot life. And as we live in Polemi ourselves, it would be rude not to cover it, wouldn't it?

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
