In Search Of The Stroumpi Lion
Gypsum Features
This is a good place to see gypsum formations too. They are actually fairly common in this part of Paphos.
Clear Skies
We were fortunate to do this trip on a very clear day. You can see the mountains in the distance, and Stroumpi in the foreground.
Farm Land
The view in the other direction is also very pretty, and still fairly verdant.
More Gypsum
I always worry when I see houses built close to gypsum. It dissolves in water over time, and I wouldn't want to own anything that was likely to not be there in 20 years time.
Fish Scale Variety
Though Gypsum remains a poor second cousin to some of the prettier crystals you can find in the Paphos countryside, when you get decent specimens like this fish-scale variety it is still nice to find.

We were introduced to the Crystal Hills a few years back. It was the first time we visited Polemi and we were on the hunt for geocaches. This particularly one was a near perfect example of what makes a good cache: an interesting location that we would have been unlikely to find had there not been a cache there. The only thing that let the cache down was it's size, but we won't go into that here. Instead we shall have a look at the terrain, and see why the cache was called "The Crystal Hill".A Crystal Road Trip
