Paphos Medieval Tower
The other day I was out Christmas Shopping. I had parked in a side road near the Cyta Building due to the volume of shoppers around. I hadn't been down this road before, and was surprised by what I found down there. What do you think?
Mysterious

This is not the sort of thing you find every day when you go for a wander.
Unfinished Business

I wanted to look at the cliffs when I parked the car. I had a sneaking suspicion that when I did the small series on the cliffs of Paphos, I had missed an area. That adventure will have to wait for another, less muddy day. But I had a look at them from above, and it was then that I saw the tower.
Well Supported

I can't find out any information on the tower itself, other than that it is labelled "Paphos Medieval Tower" on Google Maps. Most searches pull up information on the castle in the harbour, which is hardly surprising.
Stairway To Heaven

So does anybody know the story of this place? It is clearly being renovated, and is completely fenced off. However, there is no information sign. If you know anything, please leave a comment.
Finding It

If you are in the area, pop down and have a look at it. You can find it here.

A ridge of cliffs bisects the city of Paphos. Below it, Universal and Kato Paphos stretch down to the sea. Above it, the Old Town and business areas form the bulk of the rest of the city. I've split the article into three parts, and we shall begin above the church we featured in our last blog.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
