Shut The Gate

I wouldn't like to get locked in. There was no light in the cave, and the passage goes deep into the hill. Luckily I had packed a torch.

Mysterious Bones

There were numerous side tunnels, one of which led up to another opening. It looked like an animal had fallen through it at some point, as their grizzly remains lurked within the mud.

A Rest Stop

This little room had been carved out. Looking inside, the torch revealed a seat. Presumably it was where the miners went for a break.

The Seat

There is the seat in question. Not a cushion in sight.

Going further into the cave, I had to stoop a little, but not too much. The floor wasn't too muddy either. I would imagine that after the winter rains it would be quite slippery and hazardous though.

A few months ago we read a report in the papers about an interesting cave that lurked within Paphos itself, behind an old church. After a bit of investigation I found it, and did a bit of spelunking.
