Droushia Blossom

Published 11th of February, 2021

We went to the coast near Polis a few days ago for a chilly dip. We took a scenic route back through Droushia, and stopped to enjoy the view. We couldn't help but notice the spring flowers, and blossom in the trees, and fortunately Alex had her camera...

The Road From Droushia

We have always liked Droushia. There is something a little bit magical about the village. Perhaps it is because the roads seem to change each time we visit? Or perhaps it is the surrounding countryside, which possesses a unique quality somehow slightly different from the rest of Cyprus? It is certainly a great place to go if we are ever feeling homesick for the old country, as its landscape reminds us of parts of the British countryside.

Spring Blossom

The almond blossom is arriving early this year, thanks to a very mild winter.

Low Cloud

This is what I mean about reminding us of the British Countryside. This could very easily be somewhere in Dartmoor, with the low cloud scudding in from the sea.

Daisy, Daisy

As I mentioned in the intro, Alex is taking all the pictures for this blog. So expect plenty of flowers and close-ups.

To The Helmet

I spent most of my time sat to the left of this shot, planning more ace content for the website. We have written over 350 blogs on Paphos now, and are running out of new places to go. Indeed, this isn't the first time we have mentioned these rocks. However, rather than just stop, we plan to revisit a lot of our favourite haunts, and take the drone with us to get a different point of view. We are now officially licensed to fly the thing (new laws came in on Jan 1st) but I will wait until the lockdown is over before I do any more of that.

Droushia Lowlands

Droushia is a village of many charms, and recent roadworks. There is an abandoned village nearby too, which we set out to explore for this blog. Rather typically, we got distracted along the way, so today we bring you a report on what lies in the countryside below.

Spring is in The Air!

Yesterday we took a walk out across the Akamas, above Avakas Gorge (which deserves a blog article of its own). Spring was definitely in the air, and the flowers were blooming. We took a few shots to share.

Cyprus Orchids

If you only visit in the heat of summer, you could be forgiven for thinking that a lot of Cyprus is like a desert; brown and arid. However, the truth is somewhat different. During Spring, most of Cyprus is green, as recent blogs will have shown. Not only that, but spring flowers come out to bloom, painting the hills and valleys with a sea of colour. If you are lucky, or you know where to look, you will also come across fields of orchids...

Kato Paphos In Springtime.

We have visitors at the moment, so have been showing them the sights. In between times I have taken the occasional photo, which put together paints a nice picture of Kato Paphos in the Springtime. It is busy getting ready for the forthcoming season, but still manages to maintain it's beauty...
