Snow Fun In The Troodos
Let's Have A Wander

Ok, so we've got cold bums from all the coat tobogganing, let's have a look at what else is happening up here. There is no snow on the trees any more, which is a shame. However, when the snow melts, nature wakes up...

Frisky Ladybirds

I was very surprised when walking past the fir trees, to see that they were covered with ladybirds. They were behaving in a very unladylike fashion. This is the only family friendly shot I could take.
Snow Bunny

We were lucky enough to see a Snow Rabbit. These are even rarer than Snow Leopards. Their main diet is carrots discarded from melting snowmen.
Nice Views

The snow may be on the wane, but the views are still outstanding.

So, will there be any more snow this winter? I would imagine the businesses up here who earn their coin from skiing hope so. But even when it all inevitably melts, the Troodos is still an essential visit. This view is available all year round, and during the summer, the mountains are a welcome break from the Cyprus heat. There are loads of trails waiting to be trekked, and viewpoints waiting to be viewed. It's only a couple of hours from Paphos too, so makes a great day out.

We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
