This was amazing! Don't get me wrong, I had no illusions about being the first to discover ancient tombs. For a start, there was some sort of cardboard paneling in here. Secondly, the location was marked on an old map. Finally, the builders clearly know of the existence of these ruins, because their marker flags pop up regularly on the site.

However, it was still fun!

I was a bit excited at this point and photographed each of the individual tombs. However, in retrospect, I think one shot is enough for you to get the picture.

I climbed out of the tomb and took some more of the site in. There were smaller graves like this one all over the place.

Time Period?

So, are these graves the same sort of age as those found at Souskiou, or are they more modern?

What Lies Beneath?

There are interesting times ahead, when the bulldozers move in.

Last spring we blogged about our visit to the abandoned village of Souskiou in the Diarizos Valley. Geroskipou Antiquities Under Threat

There's a very nice church on the front at Paphos. It is built next to an area of land that until now has been empty, save for some archaeological ruins. There are now plans to build on the site, and protests are also planned to prevent any such development. We took our camera down to get a first hand view...
