We are delighted to have another blog from Max, showing some more of his amazing crystal collection. Over to you Max...

Volcanic Pipe

As my last Blog was about crystals from the Gypsum family, I decided this time to show some fine minerals like Amethyst and Quartz, from the same area: North of Konia.

The above picture shows the volcanic pipe of an extinct volcano. These outcrops are mainly seen in our Paphos area.

Lava Streams

Here one can see two parallel lava streams going downhill.

Fossilised Tree

Loose Crystals

From the edge of the pipe several seams and cracks on the surface indicate that it is the right area to find Amethyst and Quartz crystals.

You just look around and if you come with children it will be very exiting for them to find the shiny pieces.

Tool of the Trade

I used a "zappa" to make some shallow trenches and was very successful as my next pics show. Enjoy the Gallery.

The Crystal Hills of Polemi

We were introduced to the Crystal Hills a few years back. It was the first time we visited Polemi and we were on the hunt for geocaches. This particularly one was a near perfect example of what makes a good cache: an interesting location that we would have been unlikely to find had there not been a cache there. The only thing that let the cache down was it's size, but we won't go into that here. Instead we shall have a look at the terrain, and see why the cache was called "The Crystal Hill".
