The Far Side of the Akamas
Road To Nowhere
After a pleasant walk,I reached the bay I wanted to explore. The track does continue up along the rim of the bay, but it eventually peters out.
The Out Of Reach Bay
This was the bay. Somewhere in there was a geocache. I did find it, but I won't include any photos, as that would spoil it.
How To Get Down
Originally I planned to follow the ridge down to the beach. Unfortunately, if you go that route, you soon find yourself on top of a cliff. I could have climbed down, but there would have been no way of getting back up. So I had to find another route.
The Route Down
This was the route I chose. A seasonal stream runs down here, creating in places a rock staircase. The only tricky bit was at the bottom, which consisted of very tiny bits of shale.
The Beach Itself
It was a shame that there was a boat in the bay, but even so, it was lovely and peaceful. I collected up some of the rubbish, as I had bought a bin bag with me just for that. Compared to some of the beaches though, it wasn't too bad. When you explore the remoter beaches, you find rubbish that could only have come from passing ships. So a handy rubbish bag can help even the balance.
