The Akamas By Car
Avakas Gorge from Afar

We love it up here, but I will reiterate: if you do go exploring, take plenty of water. You will go through water bottles very quickly in the heat. It is better to have left over bottles than run out half way.

Cap St George in the Distance

Another view of Avakas Gorge. The mist obstructed the sea view, but on a clear day you can see for miles.
The Max Factor

We came this way for a reason. Thanks to Max's blogs, we are now much more aware of the rocks around us. My wife had remembered something from a previous journey...
Big Rock Crystal!

Yes, by the side of the road, there was this huge boulder, full of crystals.
Close Up

We looked around the area, and found some smaller samples. If it hadn't been for Max though, we wouldn't have paid enough attention to spot them. It is amazing what is out there in the wilderness, waiting to be discovered and admired.
That's it for this blog. If you do go exploring in the Akamas, remember you do so at your own risk, so do heed the warnings I have given. On top of that, you should also include a first aid kit. The only issues we've ever had while exploring have been punctures, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Lara Bay
Lara Bay is a bit of an enigma. If you approach from the direction of Paphos and Coral Bay, on the main road, you may well end at the beach by Lara Bay Restaurant. Confusingly, this is not Lara Bay. eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
