Golden Leaves Cyprus Crematorium Limited has received planning approval to build Cyprus’s first crematorium in Agia Varvara, Paphos, ten years after cremation legislation was first introduced in the Republic.
Construction is set to begin in September 2026, with the facility expected to be completed within approximately 18 months. Golden Leaves Cyprus Crematorium Limited is a joint venture between Golden Leaves Ltd, a UK-based company established in 1984, and Angel Guardians Funeral Home, a Paphos-based funeral director founded in 2010.
The facility will offer a modern, dignified, and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional burial, and is intended to address a longstanding gap in services for both Cypriot citizens and the island’s international resident community. Many have until now had to travel abroad for cremation, facing significant costs and complex administrative procedures.
The crematorium will feature ceremony halls, landscaped memorial areas, and cremation systems incorporating advanced filtration and low-emission technology, operating in accordance with European environmental regulations.
