September: Istinjo

Istinjo was a little village we had driven through a few times without realising it was there. It was only when I noticed it signposted on several roadsigns that I realised that there must be more than just a farm there. So one day in September we stopped for a wander.
Sinti Monastery

Demonstrating that there is more to the man than crystals alone, Max returned with yet another guest blog. This time he visited the abandoned monastery of Sinti, and showed us some lovely murals. The monastery was also the setting for a Pafos2017 cultural event.
Mandria Mysteries

We were a bit short of ideas for blogs in September, so we wrote this one to tide us over until our muse returned. It turned out to be very popular, and lots of people gave us more information about the ancient Olive Factory of Mandria, and the pill boxes we found beyond it. It spawned more blogs too, as further exploration also introduced us to the abandoned desalination plant.
October: Columbia Beach Resort

Earlier in the year we blogged about a new luxury destination in Paphos. A friend pointed us in the direction of an established resort, for us to compare. We fell in love with Columbia Beach Resort in Pissouri as soon as we visited it, and still can't get over how colourful the chapel was.
Argaka Dam

Our daughter is a student at ISOP. In October, Year 8 had a Residential Weekend, where they stayed at school in tents. On the Saturday, they went to the Argaka Nature Trail, to do some litter collection. This was followed by a barbeque and fun on the beach. I came along to help, and cooked the baked potatoes.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
