Crown Resorts Horizon Is Being Reborn
We often get asked about the abandoned Crown Resorts Horizon in Coral Bay. Recently the questions centred around a fixtures and fittings sale. Well it turns out that this was a prelude to a full renovation. The resort is due to re-open in May 2024, and will be rebranded as the Cali Resort and Spa. The following pictures came from their website.
The Pool

Cali Resort & Spa is the new name for the Crown Resorts Horizon hotel in Coral Bay. The link will take you to their website. I am presuming that the images used are computer generated, given that the renovation is still very much a work in progress.
Five Star Accommodation

The rooms on the website certainly look very elegant. There is a whole gallery of images and we are just showing five for this article. Check out the rest on the website.
Dining Area

The following is from the website, and tells you what to expect:
Take your pick from 201 airy, light-filled rooms and suites, each designed with contemporary amenities and special touches to meet the needs of discerning guests. These include tea and coffee-making facilities, a minibar and safe, luxurious bathroom amenities, bathrobes, slippers, and more.
The resort operates based on a Half-Board Dine-Around package and Premium All-Inclusive package, offering guests the chance to indulge at two fine restaurants: the resort’s main restaurant specialising in lavish buffets, and Fiki Japanese Fusion restaurant. Two bars serve drinks throughout the day, whether you dream of lazy poolside cocktails or sophisticated moments in the Indoor Bar & Terrace.
Guests at Cali Resort & Spa can also enjoy a wide range of facilities on the resort grounds, including an indoor pool and 30-metre-long outdoor pool for moments of total relaxation. The resort also boasts a soothing spa offering a variety of treatments, and features a fitness room, sauna, and steam room.

I love a good steam room, so will be very interested to hear how the spa turns out.

For booking information, check out the Cali Resort & Spa on the TUI website. As stated previously, they are taking bookings from May 2024!

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
