Foinikas is Cut Off!
While Paphos waits for the Asprokremmos Dam to overflow, we thought we might as well photograph the rest of the reservoir, which is to all intents and purposes, now full. So we set off to Foinikas looking for some beautiful landscape nature shots. We didn't get very far though...
At The Dam
Before we get to Foinikas, let's have a couple of pictures of the dam. The first is a reader-request, as mentioned in a previous blog...
At The Rim
This was taken at about 1PM on saturday. Who knows, after all the rain we had overnight, it may even be overflowing now?
From The Foinikas Road
Anyway, that's enough dam close-ups. We then headed up to the water processing plant. This is now pumping out clear water again, so it no longer looks like the chocolate factory we videod a while ago. Beyond the plant, the road (well, track) winds down along the side of the valley towards Foinikas.
Distant Foinikas
And there is our favourite abandoned village in the distance! Note that there is now only one building visible in the foreground. I will come back to this in a while. Note also, that there is the first hint of yellow in the village. In a couple of weeks, the village will be a sea of yellow. It is a spectacular sight, and you can see what it looks like in this blog.
Full
Hmm, this looks interesting. That road in the distance seems to be getting remarkably close to the water's edge.
