MPs table bill to tax Airbnb-style rentals

Two MPs have tabled a bill that aims to regulate and tax short-term property rentals like Airbnb.

According to Disy deputy Averof Neophytou, who co-authored the legislative proposal, approximately one-third of tourists stay in unregistered accommodation.

The bill aims to control this ‘illegality’, he added.

Men remanded for knife fight

Two men were remanded for four days by Paphos district court on Monday for being involved in a knife fight.

Police said that a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were involved in a fight which ended in a stabbing near the village square in Chlorakas.

Both men were injured in the fight which police said appeared to be over family differences.
