Polemi Tulip Festival Is Coming!
It's nearing the end of March which means it is Tulip time in Polemi. The storms have kept the flowers hidden over the last few days, but the sun is bringing them out now, just in time for Sunday's Tulip Festival.

It has thankfully been a wet March, which is great news for the reservoirs. By last weekend though, there were no signs of any tulips flowering in the fenced-off tulip field in Polemi. Plenty of buds but none had yet made the final push. We revisited today and after a day's sunshine I am happy to report that the tulips are beginning to bloom.

New Arrivals
The Polemi Tulip Festival celebrates this lovely flower which is indiginous to the area. This year the event is on March 29th at the Metochi Cultural Centre. It runs from 11am to 5pm. You can expect to see lots of performances from local schools and dance groups, as well as a number of stalls selling traditional arts, crafts and food. We include a map showing you where the event is at the end of the article.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
