Club 18-30 closure welcomed in Ayia Napa

The mayor and tourism board of Ayia Napa on Tuesday welcomed news that Thomas Cook will axe its once popular Club 18-30 holidays, describing as a positive move that the holidays for young clubbers may soon be a thing of the past.

“We remain committed to Club 18-30 for summer 2018. However, we are exploring options for the future of the brand, which could include the possibility of a sale,” a Thomas Cook spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Hospitals overwhelmed by flu patients

People suffering from the flu are flooding public hospitals and affecting their smooth operation, the head of the state doctors’ union, Pasyki, said on Tuesday.

Flu season at its peak health officials warn

Health authorities on Monday urged the public to take precautions as the flu season is now at its peak.

The flu season started the last two weeks of December, some two weeks earlier than usual, and has spread rapidly.

According to the Head of the Infectious Disease Surveillance Unit of the health ministry, Maria Koliou, the most common flu this year is virus type A.
