The health of former president Demetris Christofias continues to be stable but he remains in critical condition. A specialist on infectious diseases is expected to arrive from abroad later on Tuesday.
According to the health ministry Christofias is still in the Nicosia general hospital’s intensive care unit due to significant respiratory problems.
“His health condition is stable but remains critical,” the ministry said in an announcement.
A medical council was held on Tuesday to evaluate the former president’s tests and the ministry has called in a specialist on infectious diseases from abroad who will decide with his attending doctor the next steps as to treatment.
According to Akel leader Andros Kyprianou who visited Christofias in hospital on Tuesday morning, the former president is able to communicate with his environment.
