Blue Flag beaches tend to operate (have life guards) in the summer months. On remote beaches you will be left to your own devices. Do make sure when you are swimming that you obey and signs warning of rip-tides and other adverse conditions. They are put there for a reason.

Police are warning drivers that the Limassol-Paphos highway is dangerous because of heavy rain, strong winds and the accumulation of water.

They are urging drivers to be particularly careful, to drive slowly, keep a safe distance from other cars and switch on their headlights.

Paphos rubbish collectors announce strike

Paphos rubbish collectors on Thursday announced a one-day strike for next month to protest against the privatisation of the town’s waste management system.

The strike will start a minute after midnight on Tuesday, March 3 and will last for 24 hours.

Met Office issues thunderstorm warning for tomorrow

The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm warning for tomorrow.

In a yellow alert, it said that isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the area. “In these storms the rain intensity may exceed 55 millimetres per hour,” it added.

The warning is in force from 8 am to 6 pm on Friday.
