Laiki Paralia Beach has recently had a bit of TLC and now looks lovely. There are plenty of places to park, and the nearby Luna Park should entertain the kids if they tire of the sun. Meanwhile, you can relax in the newly constructed Beach Bars that are tastefully placed along the front.

Fires in Lara, Pelathousa out of control

Two fires in the areas of Lara and Pelathousa are out of control, the fire service said on Sunday afternoon.

According to the department, the fire in Lara broke out at about 2.25pm while five minutes later a second fire broke out in the community of Pelathousa.

Fire engines and helicopters are fighting the blazes but strong winds are making the job difficult.

Man drowns in Polis Chrysochous

A 73-year-old man lost consciousness while swimming at a beach in the Polis Chrysochous area on Sunday.

It was around 17.30 when he was spotted by other swimmers who brought him to shore and called for an ambulance.

He was taken to Paphos Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police launch search after man beaten up

Police are investigating a case of grievous bodily harm after a man was reportedly attacked in Paphos on Thursday evening.

According to police, a man visited the Paphos hospital A&E department at 8.30pm where he was diagnosed with a broken nose by the doctor on duty.

The injured man was treated in the surgical ward.
