Paved With Good Intentions

We continued down the road until we came to another junction. The main road seemed to head back towards the stream (and the Sulphur Spring beyond it), but before I wasn't comfortable going down there. So I left the car at the junction and walked down. You can see a lot more bamboo to my left, and a very small bridge ahead.

Very Small bridge

I wouldn't fancy walking up that.

Landslide

Beyond the bridge, the track went uphill again, but it was clear that the way was now blocked. There has recently been a landslide here. I'm glad I didn't drive here as it would have been a pain to reverse back. This is why you should never be afraid of checking a route on foot first when you are out exploring. It can save you no end of grief.

So I returned to the car and we continued up the left hand track. It went through some fields and soone got better. Presently we found ourselves outside a business I had visited some time ago. This is Oakland Creative Concrete. They are in our directory, and do a nice line in garden ornaments among other things. Have to say, they have picked a lovely place to live. Once we had driven past then we were soon back in the lofty spires of Giolou. From there it was a short drive back to Polemi.

St Anastasia Sulphur Spring

If you have driven from Paphos to Polis along the B7, you will probably have smelled the Sulphur Springs around Miliou as you drove past. It is a bit challenging but is thankfully soon replaced by the smell of the orange orchards which make up most of the surrounding farmland. When we we visiting the area a few days ago, we spotted a ramblers' sign pointing to the spring, so naturally we stopped to investigate...

The Abandoned Village of Theletra - Part 1

Old Theletra was abandoned several decades ago. The threat of landslides drove the population up the hll to a new settlement. Since then the village has mainly been left to crumble, save for its church and a few buildings which are still inhabited. At first glance, there is not much to see here, aside from some picture-postcard views. But get adventurous, and there is a whole host of places to explore...
