Polemi Tulip Season
Polemi is now in bloom, so come with us as we take a tour of the Tulip Fields and see what Mother Nature has produced for us this year.
Tulip Village

As you drive towards Polemi from the B7, you will notice this sign on your left. Polemi is known as the Tulip Village, for a very good reason. However, you could be forgiven for feeling a bit short changed, as you won't have seen any tulips in the fields bordering the road. Rest assured, they are there. Not only that, but there is also a dedicated field set aside for the preservation of this beautiful wild flower. But more on that later.
Field Verges

Years ago a lot more fields would have been full of tulips at this time of year. Now though, thanks to modern farming techniques, the tulips tend to survive in the verges between fields, as you can see here. However, if you look carefully, you can see the odd splash of red in the field on the right of this shot.

So let's take a look at this verge and see what all the fuss is about.
The Polemi Tulip

From above, you can see how colourful the tulips are. I love the contrast between black and red, with the yellow border.

We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia.
