Arnies Nature Trail

Published 10th of May, 2020

Yesterday, for the first time since March, we drove somewhere in order to have a walk. It was magnificant! We didn't drive far, just down the road. There is a nature trail which we walked before Christmas, and we thought it was the perfect place to start reacquainting ourselves with the Cyprus countryside.

Start Here

Agios Demetrianos! Or is it Agios Dimitrianos? If you google it, the "i"s have it, but if you are standing there looking at this boulder, you have to go with the Es. Anyway, if you take the Polemi road from the B7 and keep going, you soon arrive here. You won't see this sign from the main road, but if you turn off when the road sign indicates, then park on the left, you will.

Distant Ezousa

That's the kind of view you will be getting on this walk. It is not too long, but goes up and down some fairly steep paths.

The Route

There is a handy map showing you the route you will be taking. You are at the bottom at the moment, by the arrow and the number 1. If you follow the route anti-clockwise you will see there are two options later on, one in blue and one in red. There's not that much difference in the distances, but the red route is harder to negotiate, as we shall see.

Down Here

So, making sure you are carrying some water and have decent sun protection, set off down this road.

Still Green

Though it is now May there is still plenty of green around. In a couple of months this will have a much browner hue.
