Anyway, that was how we drove down to the Lara Restaurant taking a gentle route. For the return to Polemi, we went a much tougher route round the back of the Avakas Gorge...

Well Maintained Route

A lot of the off-road routes have had a bit of a makeover since winter. Bulldozers flatten the surface, and are great at removing bumps. However, they aren't so good at filling in potholes, so be warned!

Akamas Brown

I took the same photo in springtime. Everywhere was green then. There was also a heavy haze today. Still looks beautiful though.

Curious Goat

This goat was very friendly, and I presume it was after something to nibble. Those horns looked quite pointy though.

Akamas Scenery

Once you have made it up the hill, the scenery can look fairly barren at this time of year. The air is thick with aromas of goats and a myrid of herbs though, and the sound of the insects can be quite a racket at times!
