Paphos Life Road Trip #1
Kannivou Dam
Once you have tired of Kannaviou, it’s time to head off up the road to Panagia. To get there, you have to go past Kannaviou Dam.
Kannivou Reservoir
As you are driving past, you might want to have a look at the dam. There are some nice views from the top, and plenty of space to park and turn your car around afterwards. Don’t worry though, you cannot drive your car this far up. This area is for pedestrians only.
As you can see, the water level is pretty low here at the moment. According to the statistics, it is less than 30% full.
Reservoir View
The reservoir is quite photogenic. This shot was taken just before the village of Asprogia. You can see a decent off-road track threading through the hills. That will take you all the way to Kykkos Monastery, if you want the really scenic route.
Check The Map
It’s about time we had another look at the map, just to get our bearings. As you can see, we are just about to reach Panagia.
Picnic Spot
There is another picnic spot here too, with its own stunning view. Next to the picnic spot is a little shrine, slightly to the left of this photo. These shrines appear all over Cyprus, for a number of reasons. Some are memorials, others are offerings of thanks. I know of at least one that is placed on the site of an ancient church.
