The Polemi Countryside
Past Times
Here you can see some old walls. At some point in the past this area must have been farmed, as the walls are used to support layering. You will see walls like this all over Cyprus. In days gone by much more of the land was used for farming. They especially become visible after scrub fires.
The Gorge From Above
The little gorge is now below me. You can see where the vegetation has completely smothered the area.
Prickles Ahoy!
If you want to go off the beaten track around here, you need to be prepared for some pain. The green here is armed.
Ouch
Look behind the rock and you will see what I mean.
Indeed, several days later, as I am writing this, I just rubbed the back of my leg and felt several bumps. My body is ejecting some unwanted guests.
Snake Skin
You don't just have to avoid thorns out here. That snake skin suggests that some of the holes you can see in the rocks might be harbouring things best left to themselves.
