Now, whether they would have been able to avoid the crash if the crew had gone through the proper training and received genuine certification, I cannot say. The good news is, the authorities managed to prevent an environmental disaster.

The wood, petrol and other toxic materials on the ship were cleared in order to avoid any pollution. Attempts were made to tow the ship however it was not possible.

Aside from a few planks, it looks like the ship is completely empty now.

A Mysterious Visitor

While I was flying the drone around the wreck, I noticed a flek of red in the water. I initially thought it was a buoy or a bit of rubbish, but it eventually dawned on me that it was in fact a person on a paddle board.

Long Way From Shore

I have to take my hat off to the urban explorer, as the wreck is a fair old paddle from the shore. You can see how shallow the water here is, as well.

A new Coast Path has been constructed in Kissonerga. It provides a convenient way to access the little beaches dotted along the rocky coastline and is a great place to go for a stroll, especially as the weather is now getting a bit cooler. Come with us as we see what it has to offer.
