Paphos Seafront Walkabout
Homage To The Fishboy
Is this Paphos' favourite statue? It is certainly its most fondled. You can see even from here how the boy's head and shoulders (I didn't know either) have been polished by countless caresses.
Distant Shower Area
This is as close as I will go to the swimming area.
Fishboy Closeup
Incidentally, does anybody know what has happened to the statue by Paphos Fort (just for you, Achilleas!) that is no longer there? It used to depict a lady draped over a rock. It was created by Yiota Ioannidou, the same artist who made Fish Boy. Indeed, she has created a number of lovely statues around the Paphos District.
Harbour View
The jetty that Fish Boy resides on is a great place for taking photos of the area, as it gives you room to breathe. You may have to wait a while until the area is clear though, as it is also a popular selfie spot.
Of course, the Fish Boy's pitch is highly sought after. When he gets tired, there are a queue of statues waiting in the water for their turn.
