Paphos Old Town In 2026 - Part 1
Previously At The Play Area
Now, a few years ago, there was a similar statue here, depicting a girl and a hoop. This was commissioned by a Chinese Businessman and resident - Henry Jiang. Again, it was made by Yiota Ioannidou. Unfortunately, it was stolen and broken down to sell for scrap. Part of it was recovered from an area in nearby Tremithousa. From memory the culprits were local Cypriots, though I would be happy to be corrected on that front. I only mention this because there were lots of posts at the time along the lines of "Paphos has gone to pot. No local would ever do this" etc etc.
As a kid I would have loved a wall like this. One of my earliest memories is of putting toy cars in similar holes in the wall in our house in Alton. Apparently some neighbouring kids cottoned on to this and nicked them from the other side, but I was too young to know about it.

Walking down the alley with the kid's playground brings us back out near the Green Wall and the Indoor Market.
Boutique Hotel
According to a shop owner I asked a while ago, they are building a boutique hotel here. You can see one of the shades for the indoor market on the left. We shall turn right and head towards Constantinou Kanari.
Constantinou Kanari
I will finish Part 1 here. There used to be a lovely mural on the wall above Malu Bistro. I shall save that discussion for Part 2 though.
