Paphos Coast Path - Part 6 - Paphos Castle to Lighthouse Beach
Lizzy!

I like lizards. Unfortunately, our cats also like them. We have much less of them around our house than we used to. So it is always nice to see them when I am out and about.

Another Brick In The Wall

Once you have passed the cape you are about a third of the way to Lighthouse Beach. Next point of interest is the Old City Wall that lies buried between the walkway and the sea.
Another Brick In The Wall Part 2

You can see more of the old wall here. They dug down 5 metres when they were renovating the area, just to see how far it went. Once they reached the bottom they filled up the hole with rubble. I am mentioning this, because some people were saying that they demolished part of the old wall during the renovations. No they didn't. They just filled the hole they dug with rubble, to protect it.
Food For Thought

It makes you think though. If the wall to the left was 5 metres high, then all this here must be higher than the original level too. Which begs the question, what is underneath?
And this is the "problem" Paphos has with Archaeology. There is just so much of it about. It cannot all be excavated and preserved. If you did that, there would be no room for a new, modern Paphos.
Wild Flowerbeds

I was slightly puzzled by the flower beds you find along the path. Some of the flora has obviously been planted, but an awful lot just look like typical Cypriot wild flowers and weeds. There's nothing wrong with that, and they have a lovely scent.
