Whats on in Paphos - August 2026
Pafos Municipality publishes a monthly list of Cultural Events that are occurring in the city. There are some interesting things to look forward to, so we are passing the information on. We have also included a handy map so that you can see where the various locations are.
The Map
We start the event list with a map showing you where all the events are. If you have never heard of Dioikitiria Square before, it is the official name of the viewing platform in Old Town by Caffe Nero, where the Girl With The Sparrow Statue is. Also note that an event is scheduled at the new Documentation Centre! Does this mean that it will be open?
All these events are over now, but I did see a bit of the Poetry Exhibition at the Castle.
The big event here is the Beer Festival at the Castle from Wednesday 5th to Sunday 9th. They don't specify an opening time but I imagine it starts at 6PM. I will do a film on Wednesday with more information. This should be out on Thursday so if you are unsure take a look at that. Last year's festival was excellent.
The Block Party at Paphos Municipal Market costs €15 to enter, and has a rather enigmatic website.
The Traditional Musiv Evening with Eirini Pelagia caught my eye, as it is located at the newly constructed Centre for Historical Documentation. Aside from that, the idea of watching the classic 2001 in the Open Air certainly has a lot of appeal.
The Stoa 12 Cafe mentioned is by the Green Living Wall at the main entrance of Paphos Municipal Market in Old Town. Anavargos Square is up near the main Hospital. It is outside the range of our map so I will include a link to it on Google Maps:

If you've never seen a Shadow Theatre it is well worth checking out. It reminds me of one of those old Nordic Silhouette Cartoons, and features a recurring character called Karagiozis who reminded me a bit of Punch in the old Punch and Judy Shows. The shows I've seen were all in Greek but I found an English version on Youtube if you want to see what it is like. It looks more impressive when seen at a proper Cypriot fair though.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
