Fairly Recent Excavations
If you look at those boxes of finds, they aren't covered in weeds. So these must be fairly recent excavations.
Outside The Fence
There were a few ruins outside the main fenced area. Even now, I look at that grass and shudder...
One Last Look
When we wrote about the Mandria site, I guessed that it might be an early spa, with the five pits being baths. It turned out that it was in fact an old olive oil factory. On that basis, I am not even going to bother to try guessing what was originally on this site!
The Map
From the map, you can see how close the site is to Debenhams. which is at the top left. I have also highlighted some more modern "ruins" to the right. Does anybody know what this old camp was? There are big signs up all around it saying "NO ENTRY", so I thought it best not to pry. I was just curious.
Anyway, just a quick blog this time. It would be nice to know what the Geroskipou site actually was, and whether the work is still ongoing...

Geroskipou Sculpture Park
As part of Pafo2017, a new Sculpture Park was commissioned in Geroskipou. Inspired by local history, legends and traditions, ten Cypriot and foreign sculptors have created on-site works drawing on the history of the area and, in this way, leaving behind them the traces of the European Capital of Culture. Yerokipia Farm
If you have ever been to Aphrodite Water Park in Geroskipou, you may well have noticed the ruined buildings next to it. The first time I found them for myself, I assumed, wrongly, that they were the ruins of an old prison. They are in fact, all that remains of a farm that has been there for 100s of years.

Kissonerga Mosfilia

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
