End Of An Era
Abstractions
This was in the space that is now a children's play area by the central church.
This is now a rather lovely seating area for a restaurant.
I think this one, near Pumpkin House, just got painted over. It had faded terribly though, so was pretty unrecognisable.
Hope Springs Eternal
This, too, faded away. But there is hope. In its place, there came another mural, more brightly coloured than this...
The Future Is Glowing
When the Street Art Square festivals were organised a decade ago, they received very little official help. Their legacy helped pull the Old Town through its period of upheaval though. And now, murals are no longer considered random graffiti. Instead they are seen as a benefit to an area. Take the underpass at Mandria as an example. Or this advert for Chernobyl Bar, which is an amazing piece of work.
The murals don't last forever, so don't let them pass you by without experiencing them for yourself. I've written loads of articles on them over the years. You can see links below this one. Check them out, and go for some walks. You will not be disappointed.
