End Of An Era
Nothing lasts forever, especially if it is continuously exposed to the Cyprus Weather System. And so it is with heavy heart that we observe that Aphrodite's Children, the mural that has being delighting visitors to Old Town Paphos since 2017, appears to be going out of commission. Let us bid it farewell...
Before The Change

We shall start with a shot of the fantastic mural from the drone taking a couple of weeks ago. Here you can see that the building behind it is in need of some TLC. The area in front of it appears to be a nice little garden though.
Yesterday...

Yesterday though, we drove past recording a 360 film which will be published later today on Youtube. We couldn't help but notice that the garden is being replaced by a building. Now, for all we know, the mural may be being preserved within that building. I can easily imagine it becoming an interesting wall in a bar or restaurant. But it will be beyond the vision of the casual observer.
In Days Gone By

Nothing lasts forever though. this is a shot we took after the mural had been painted. You can compare pictures to see how much the artwork has faded. So please don't think we are against progress. We fully understand that the murals don't last forever. That being said, we can still mourn their passing.
Absent Friends

It isn't the first mural to have had its day. Many more that were painted during the previous Street Art festivals a decade ago have already bitten the dust. Let's revisit some of them. This one was painted by Millo, who later went on to adorn Millo's Tower in Geroskipou.
Tyre Advert

And this advert which appeared next to the Old Town Market is no longer with us. It was a big hit when it was drawn, as at the time the main route through Old Town was closed and traffic was diverted this way. So everybody got to see it being painted.

Paphos Murals
If you take a wander around the streets of Paphos, both old and new, you will occasionally stumble upon some random art installations. The patchwork tree is one such example, but there are other exhibits too numerous to mention here. Today, we are going to have a look at a subset of these works, and examine some of the murals you will find. Most of them are situated in a small area to the west of Kennedy Square. However, there are a few others scattered around, so it pays to explore...

Even More Murals
Each time we take our camera around the new old Paphos, we seem to discover another set of murals. Last week was no different. I had to visit the main Cyta Office and as I had some time to kill I took the camera for a wander. I will publish most of the shots in the next blog, but this is a small article to show the murals we had previously missed.
Mandria Murals
It is nearly 10 years since the first StreetArt Festival occurred in Paphos. For three glorious years various walls around Old Town were adorned with murals, and some remain to this day. The spirit of the festival lives on, with murals appearing around Polis a couple of years ago. Now Mandria has joined the scene with an amazing series of murals decorating the motorway underpass into the village.
