Cyprus In Pictures - January 2025
Cloudy Castle

Going back to drone flying, there wasn't much rain in January. We had more in December in fact, which is a worry. There were however, quite a lot of clouds, especially in the first half of the month. Normally I don't fly the drone when it is cloudy, as the pictures don't look as good. However, sometimes I have no choice, and the result is a somewhat gloomy harbour shot.

Sandy Beach

Not all cloud is bad though. Mixed-colour cumulous clouds can bring pictures to life. This is Sandy Beach in Lempa, where the Paphos Coast Path ends. It is dangerous to swim here, and they have big signs up warning you of the riptides. If you must take a dip, make sure the lifeguard is on duty. At the moment, there isn't one, so don't risk it.
New Blooms

Not content with merely picking up litter, the Municipality also give Nature a hand, and have replenished all the flowers in the flower beds.
Pinball Wizard

I used to love playing pinball, and spent many a happy coin in pubs playing the game during its last golden era in the late Eighties and early Nineties. To me, nothing will ever top The Addams Family ("Hit Cousin It!!!") but in more recent years they have fallen out of favour. I guess maintenance must be an issue, as they had a habit of being mistreated. So it was nice to see a machine in this Coffee Shop in Old Town. Were it not for the fact that I was at least three times the age of the usual clientelle, I might have stopped for a game.
Light House Vista

On a calm day you can get some lovely shots at the Harbour.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
