Cyprus In Pictures - October 2024
We post daily "Kalimera" and "Kalispera" pictures to Facebook on a topical theme. I thought it would be nice to give them greater exposure, so have combined them into a monthly article. The pictures here are now viewable in their original Landscape glory. So take a look at a selection of pictures we feel summarises how October has been in our corner of Cyprus.
Arodes Scene

We started the month with this rather eccentric shot from Pano Arodes. We had been to visit the Museum of Knights Templar, and Alex spotted this scene along the way.
St George's Beach

A walk around St George's Beach area in Chloraka is always good if you are looking for nice photo opportunities.
Pomos Harbour Beach

Meanwhile, on the North Coast, Pomos Harbour still looks lovely. Unfortunately I can no longer fly my drone here, as there is an Army Base in the hills above making the area a no-fly-zone. And no, I am not giving away military secrets by revealing this. The information is necessarily available for all to see on the Government Drone Site.
Paphos Sea Front

Occasionally the odd person will moan when yet another picture of the Sea Front turns up as a Kalimera shot. I get the point, but fundamentally, the Sea Front shots are normally much more popular. If I went on popularity alone, that would be pretty much all you see. Instead, I found a happy medium and now alternative, with every other day devoted to the Sea Front and Harbour area. If you want to see more variety, the way to do it is to like and share the non-Sea Front pictures as much as the bankers, so to speak.
Kennedy Square

Cyprus had a new statue installed, dedicated to Greek Independence. It is at the other end of Paphos Municipal Gardens from here. I took this while I was getting some overhead shots. The building you can see in the foreground, where you will find Noir, used to be a cinema.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
