Cyprus In Pictures - January 2024
We post a daily "Kalimera" picture to Facebook on a topical theme. I thought it would be nice to give them greater exposure, so have combined them into a monthly article. The pictures here are now viewable in their original Landscape glory. So take a look at a selection of pictures we feel summarises how January has been in our corner of Cyprus.
Kennedy Square Christmas Tree

Let's start the New Year with a look at the Christmas Tree in Kennedy Square. This was obviously taken before it burnt down! At least they don't have to worry about storing it in the loft for the next year.
Swanky Harbour

Paphos Harbour is looking good. The work on the new Ocean Basket Restaurant is continuing at a pace. That's the building wrapped in blue you can see towards the top right of the picture.
Panagia Odigitria

In January we published an update on the Paphos to Polis Motorway. If you are exploring the countryside around Marathounta then this church on the hill is a very handy landmark. The views from it are pretty awesome too.
Coral Beach Hotel

The weather has been pretty damp this month, but I did manage to get the drone up in the air a few times. This is a view of the Coral Beach Hotel next to Corallia Beach, in Coral Bay.
The Not-So-Submerged Chapel

On my travels I found myself driving around the Kouris Dam in Limassol. There is a chapel at the far end which gets submerged on the rare occasions that the reservoir is full. Normally it looks like this. It is still lovely, and if there is no wind you can get some spectacular reflection shots in the nearby lake.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
