You will see a lot of these as you walk around Choulou. They hark back to busier times.

New From Old

There is also evidence that at least some of the older buildings are being restored.

Mysterious Arch

Now this is interesting. A few years ago, I remember reading a report on Foinikas. The website made a big thing about the arches that are used in the architecture, and how they were unlike any you would find in surrounding villages. They had lots of pictures of arches, but if you looked carefully you couldn't help but notice that there were in fact the same arch in all the pictures, just taken from different angles. There was in fact only one arch in one building there.

I mention this, because in Choulou we saw quite a few. They weren't all still in use. Some were like this, and had been turned into a wall. But you have to agree that it used to be an arch.

Lemons Galore

This is why it is good to take a lot of things you read on the internet with a pinch of salt. And possibly a slice of lemon.

Mosque View

From the side road you get a nice view of the mosque. It has been well looked after.
