Smell the Sulphur
Walking through these old mines (and there are others dotted about the island, we have yet to write blogs about) reminds me of my old chemistry lessons. The aromas of sulphur and other compounds are heavy in the air, and the ground is a mishmash of chemical colour.

These chunks of glass look a lot more spectacular in the flesh. They don't photograph very well.

New Growth
There have obviously been tree-planting exercises on and around Limni Mine. I don't know if these are as a result of that though, or whether they are just nature in action.
Chemical Beds
I wouldn't particularly want to build sandcastles in this sand, but it is fascinating to look at.
