Had I brought a packed lunch with me this would have been the perfect spot for a bite to eat. Nice big rock to sit on, with a bit of shade, and some nearby running water to wash up in afterwards.

The gorge was getting narrower now. You have two choices in such instances. Either follow the river itself, or clambour up the slope to the side, and hope it doesn't take you too far away from the river.

I chose to follow the river. You can see hear how high the water level gets during the cold wet months of winter. Imagine what the area must look like with a river raging through it!

As I got further upstream I ran into a few more goats. You can't see them here but if you look on the film I posted, you will be able to see one there, albeit briefly.

This is as far as I got. I could have clamboured up here, but I was beginning to tire and had a fair walk back out of the gorge, so I turned around and headed back to the car. I took a GPS reading here though. I think it was close to where I got when I started at the goat farm, but I wasn't quite there yet.

I will return to the gorge later in the year, before the winter rains but when most of the vegetation has died away. I shall park up by the goat farm and walk down from there. I will try and make it all the way to the bridge before returning back upstream. It promises to be a great adventure and I shall be sure to let you know how I get one when it happens.

While I was researching the gorge, I came across a post which said that it was one of the potential new quarry sites for an expansion to the existing quarry at Androlikou. If there is any truth in this I hope they have since changed their minds. The gorge is a place of amazing beauty, and it should be cherished and nurtured by the people of Cyprus. To turn it into a quarry would be a completely unwarranted act of vandalism. So I do hope the comment I read was just idle speculation.
