Theletra Waterfalll
Going Up The Gorge
I managed to get part-way up the gorge, but the track soon ran out.
End Of The Line
I could go no further than this. As you can see, the gorge continues. What you cannot see from this picture though, is that I am not at the base of the gorge. To my right, running ahead of me, there is a deeper gorge that is completely full of bamboo.
Water Works?
This came as a surprise. There was a hatch here, leading downwards. I was tempted to lift it, but I could hear the sound of insects buzzing on the other side. The thought of lifting it and disturbing thousands of angry wasps was enough to sate my curiousity. It might go down to the bottom of the gorge though. So near and yet so far!
About That Bamboo...
This is the issue I had with the bamboo. Beneath all that, there is a narrow gorge that runs up the hill. It is possible that the bamboo merely forms a canopy, but I am not going to be able to find that out from here.
Back To The Main Track
Ok, so I am not going to get access to the gorge from above. What about from below? We returned to the car and continued down the track. We soon come to a crossing, where we meet the stream from Theletra.

If you have driven from Paphos to Polis along the B7, you will probably have smelled the Sulphur Springs around Miliou as you drove past. It is a bit challenging but is thankfully soon replaced by the smell of the orange orchards which make up most of the surrounding farmland. When we we visiting the area a few days ago, we spotted a ramblers' sign pointing to the spring, so naturally we stopped to investigate...The Abandoned Village of Theletra - Part 1
Old Theletra was abandoned several decades ago. The threat of landslides drove the population up the hll to a new settlement. Since then the village has mainly been left to crumble, save for its church and a few buildings which are still inhabited. At first glance, there is not much to see here, aside from some picture-postcard views. But get adventurous, and there is a whole host of places to explore...Good Pages To Visit
