Most of the farmland around here seems to be abandoned. You will pass many fields overgrown with weeds and other more robust vegetation. Occasionally though, you will find a field like this, where somebody has recently been pruning. That's not all you will find either.

Suddenly on our way down Alex let out a squeel of delight. She had spotted her first Naked Men of the year, and what's more there was a whole bunch of them.

As you can see, the little pink chaps were pleased to see Alex too.

And no, we didn't name these orchids ourselves. That is their actual name.

While Alex was taking hot shots, I was admiring the colour contrasts on a nearby hill. There is a stream that runs from Theletra down to the Sulphur Spring. Another stream joins it, and runs down a gorge in front of this hill. We shall explore what we can of this gorge in a minute.

The Abandoned Village of Theletra - Part 1

Old Theletra was abandoned several decades ago. The threat of landslides drove the population up the hll to a new settlement. Since then the village has mainly been left to crumble, save for its church and a few buildings which are still inhabited. At first glance, there is not much to see here, aside from some picture-postcard views. But get adventurous, and there is a whole host of places to explore...
