To The Pond
I walked past the building and down this slope. The track ended here, which surprised me, as by now I had assumed that at least remnants of it would take me down to the Ezousa River.

Instead though, the track ended here. There was obviously a stream running alongside the field down to the river, but at this point it had widened into a pond. And a beautiful little pond it was too. You can't really appreciate it from this photo though, as a lot of detail is lost.
Close Up
That's what is needed; decent, delicate ripples. They bring a pond alive and conjour up images of pond skaters, water boatmen and dragonflies. Who knows, a few weeks ago there might even have been some frog spawn here.
An Inspector Calls
Now this impressed me. I have mentioned these dates before. You find them in a lot of faraway places around Cyprus, and always near water sources. They are left by Inspectors who have been monitoring insect levels, or something similar. So they at least know about the pond.
Downstream
The stream continued down the hill, but I think you will agree that there is defintely no path in that direction.

I went for a stroll around Polemi this morning. I didn't use the SMS service, so had to stay within 500 metres of our house. Turns out the light was fantastic and I was able to take some nice pictures, assisted in part, by one of our cats who decided to follow me on my travels...

Outside of Winter and Spring, a lot of Cyprus is very arid. Polemi, centrally placed in Paphos and surrounded by vineyards, remains greener than most. It even has a village pond. Admitedly, you have to go for a bumpy drive to find it, and very few people probably know that it is there, but find it we did.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
