Pano Akourdaleia Nature Trail
Into The Valley
So, where shall we end up?
Continue...
The path from here was still fairly good, though it was getting a little overgrown.
The Shelter
This is the shelter we saw. You cannot tell from the photograph but it is in fairly poor shape.
Information
On the slope, a few metres below, are the remains of an old flour mill, which was used by the inhabitants of Pano Akourdaleia and the people of the near by villages, to make their grain into flour and gruel. Flour-mills were situated along perennial streams and rivers, since the motive power was the running water. You will notice that the hole from where the water was passing through to move the mill is still visible. The mill has been destroyed on the first half of the 20th century, due a destructive flood and since then its operation ceasedl only the ruins are still visible.
There She Blows
So, the mill is not on the trail, but it is nearby? Do I walk past it, or do I climb down and have a look?
