The Fruity Fields Of Theletra
Beyond The Landslide
I clamboured over the rocks and soil, and continued down the track. It was quite overgrown but I could see a break in the scenery ahead suggesting a gorge.
Down Here
The track ended here. There was a fairly steep descent from here to the foot of the gorge.
The Bottom
This show shows the bottom of the gorge. You can see a stream near the foreground running from right to left. The countryside around here is actually very overgrown. I got down by following a water pipe that ran down from the top. You can't make it out here, but there is actually a farm track on the other side of the stream that leads up the hill. If I ever decide to explore this area some more I shall try and approach from that direction and park down there.
Heavy Undergrowth
There isn't much prospect of exploring this gorge though. As you can see it is heavily overgrown.
The Way Back Up
Having ultimately been disappointed by the non-appearance of a naviagable gorge. I clamboured back up the side and made my way back to the car and a waiting Alex. From here, we decided to drive back to the B7 through Old Theletra.

Theletra Waterfall
The abandoned village of Theletra, between Stroumpi and Kathikas, is a great place to visit and explore. Old Theletra was abandoned several decades ago. The threat of landslides drove the population up the hll to a new settlement. Since then the village has mainly been left to crumble, save for its church and a few buildings which are still inhabited. At first glance, there is not much to see here, aside from some picture-postcard views. But get adventurous, and there is a whole host of places to explore...Good Pages To Visit
