Even More Stunning Views
The hardest part of this blog was throwing away pictures I didn't use. I took loads of beautiful shots, thanks entirely to the subject matter, yet a lot of them are, in fact, very similar. The view from one ridge is pretty similar to the view from the next ridge along. So selection became more of less arbitrary.
Nice Colours
There is beauty to be found in more mundane quarters though. The rocks that the road was carved through have their own charm.
But in all honesty, there isn't much difference between this shot and the one posted above the rocks. I just couldn't discard it without using it though. So do forgive me if it gets a bit repetitive.

And that is the route we have come.
Kinousa Beckons
We have finally reached Kinousa. If you remember, we turned left at Kinousa Junction a while ago. You would think that with all the junctions we have passed since, they would have put a few more signs pointing to Kinousa, but there you go.
Anyway, once you reach this sign, park your car, and go to the right. There is a track leading down to the lake. If you are in a 4x4 you can drive down the track, but check it first, as we had a little bit of fun getting back out again.

Abandoned Villages - Istinjo
Istinjo is an abandoned little village, with an active farm, just east of Filousa. You won't find it on Google or Bing Maps, unless you opt for satellite view and locate it manually. We have driven past it on numerous times ourselves before we realised it was actually an old village; from the main road it looked more like a slightly ramshackle farm. eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
