Below Kritou Tera

No Justice

When you are standing there, this view is absolutely breathtaking. A picture really doesn't do it justice. I shall have to return and see if my 360 camera can do a better job. It was one of the nicest views I have seen in Cyprus though, and that is saying something.

Follow The Tracks

We continued up into the gorge, along the tracks. They were a bit overgrown but certainly not abandoned. Kritou Tera is a lovely place to visit in its own right. Our first road trip passes through it, and there is plenty to see there. It also has some lovely waterfalls and a nice nature trail. All that is at the other end of the gorge we are now entering.

Mystery Hut

Presumably, this was / is a farmer's shed. When you get here, you've pretty much reached the end of the line, as far as tracks are concerned.

Numbers

These numbers used to puzzle us. They are actually left there by water inspectors, to show what time the area was last checked. I think they are checking to make sure nasty insects aren't taking over the area. That sort of thing. Each date indicates a time they have sprayed insecticide. One thing I have never understood though, is why they don't write the dates in order. As it is, it is a fairly pointless process. If they had rows of dates, it would make a lot more sense.

Flowing Water

And this is why they are checking the water. There is still a river (well, stream) flowing through here. Given that it is August, that's pretty impressive. This does explain why the gorge is so green as well.

Evretou Dam

Ever since we explored the abandoned villages of Evretou and Trimithousa, we have been meaning to return and have a look at the rest of the reservoir. A chance wrong turn gave us just the opportunity we needed, so off we went. It took us a few visits to get the full picture of the reservoir, but we saw some lovely scenery along the way...
